Vacation Rental Cleaning
Summer has arrived, which means that it’s now vacation time! If you plan to stay at a vacation rental, you must be prepared to do some bit of cleaning upon your arrival. The vacation rental cleaning tips below will let you know what you need to take care of once you arrive.
Checking the Trash
The previous guests or even your rental hosts could have forgotten to take out the trash in your vacation rental. Take a moment to check all the trash cans in the house to see whether or not they have been emptied. Next, find the replacement bin liners so that you can start off fresh.
Light Kitchen Cleaning
The room you should focus much of your vacation rental cleaning attention on is the kitchen. Keep in mind that hikes, ocean swims, and various other summer adventures translate to increased appetites, which means that the kitchen will see a lot of traffic. The kitchen cleaning checklist below will ensure that your family and/or friends eat off clean utensils and surfaces.
Kitchen Cleaning Checklist:
- Ensure that the inside of the microwave is clean
- Clean the kitchen sponge by thoroughly wetting it and microwaving it for several minutes. Keep an eye on the kitchen sponge in the microwave and allow it to cool before you remove it since it will be hot.
- Check glasses, dishes, and frequently used pans, pots, or chopping boards to ensure that they were properly cleaned by previous renters.
- If you come across any dirty dishes that you will be using regularly, give them a decent hand washing or put them in the dishwasher.
Move to the Bathroom
The bathroom should be in pretty great shape. Having said that, it wouldn’t hurt to wipe down the countertops, particularly if you will be spreading out toothbrushes and toiletries. You might also want to wipe down the shower knobs and sink along with the toilet handle.
Take Your Cleaning Outside
If the vacation rental has an outdoor area, it can be a great idea to take a few minutes and tidy it up. If you are able to easily find an outdoor barn, start by giving the space a good sweeping. Next, give any outdoor furniture a quick wipe. The grill and deck chairs or table will hopefully have been left reasonably clean and should be ready for use after a quick wiping using a towel or cloth. If the outdoor items require some extra attention, clean them using the instructions you can easily find online.
How to Clean a BBQ Grill
Cleaning a vacation rental is probably nobody’s idea of a great time. However, taking anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hour to get your temporary home in proper working order is definitely worth it when you are able to relax knowing that the cups your family is using to drink from have been personally cleaned by none other than yourself.
