How to Make DIY Cleaning Products
Going DIY for your cleaning products may be instigated for various reasons. It might be you want to cut trips to the store, a focus on reducing your expenses or a desire to minimize chemical use. The incentive to go DIY may not even be there, it could be it’s simple to do it! The ingredients you need can easily be accessed. Most of them are already stocked in your pantry.
1) General-Purpose Cleaner
2 cups of water
1 cup of hydrogen peroxide
A quarter cup of lemon juice
Blend these ingredients and use for all purposes ranging from wiping counters to cleaning glass. The cleaning mixture should be kept in brown or dark containers to prevent the decomposition of the hydrogen peroxide.
2) Liquid Soap Nuts Laundry Cleaner
Creates ~2.5 cups, equal to 40 loads in a HE machine or 20 loads in a normal machine
1 full cup of Eco Nuts make of soap nuts
Use 4 cups of water
Half a cup of vinegar
Mix the constituent substances in a large pot and apply a low boil. Then, bring the heat down in the pot to a medium level and let the mix simmer when covered for about 30 minutes. Blend frequently and then crush the nuts using a slotted spoon.
Lift the lid off and for the subsequent 30 minutes let it simmer. Keep stirring occasionally.
Eliminate the heat and filter the mixture using a strainer into a clean vessel. Let it cool down.
Empty the mixture in a waterproof jar for short-range storage, or freeze using ice cubes for lasting storage.
How To Use
Apply 2 tablespoons per load for a normal machine or 1 tablespoon for a HE machine.
3) Homemade Liquid Dish Soap
A half cup solution of castile soap
1/8 cup of water
4 drops of essential oil with your favorite scent
1 teaspoon vinegar
Put together all the ingredients and stir to mix. Empty it into a reused soap bottle.
4) Non-Toxic Disinfectant
2 cups of water
3 tablespoons of liquid castile soap
30 drops of tea tree oil
Blend all the components and stock into a spray bottle.
5) Made At Home Air-Freshener
A three-quarter full teaspoon of lavender essential oil
Add 1 teaspoon of sweet orange essential oil
A half teaspoon of lemon essential oil
Use a spray bottle, fill it with water and add the essential oils. Shake to mix completely. Before each use shake the spray bottle.
