Effective And Cheap: How To Clean With Vinegar

It is really mind-boggling to see all of the different cleaning products that are in the cabinet under the kitchen sink. They have very colorful labels and offer huge promises in terms of their efficiency. However, whether or not they are effective, one thing is for certain, the cost of these products is outrageous.

So what is the best answer to this problem? You can get some great ideas by looking back in time.  

I remember how my grandmother’s house always smelled and felt so fresh and clean. It’s funny the things we remember from when we were kids. I know that the major cleaning compounds that she used were water, ammonia, baking soda, and vinegar.

The following are a couple of tips to show you when you can use vinegar to clean your house effectively.

Baked on food and stains on your pans and pots. Use one part water and one part vinegar. Put it into the pain and then boil for a total of 5 minutes.

Smelly garbage cans. Put either a piece of bread that has been soak in vinegar in the bottom of the garbage can or a small bowl full of white vinegar. Leave it there overnight to eliminate the smell. You can use this same technique with refrigerators and camping coolers.

Cats picking on rugs or furniture. Add a 1:1 mixture of water and vinegar into a spray bottle. Then spray the area. Cats really hate how vinegar smells.

Are you sick and tired of having to pay for overpriced all-purpose cleaners? If so, mix together 3 parts water and 1 part vinegar with a couple of drops of dishwashing detergent into a spray bottle. It is a very effective and cheap cleaner. This solution is especially effective at cleaning sunglasses and mirrors.

Caustic drain cleaner alternative. Pour 1/2 cup of baking soda down your drain and then 1 cup of vinegar. When the foaming stops, rinse.

Make flowers last longer. Combine 1/4 cup of cider vinegar with the flower’s water.

Sticky residue on new items or walls. Spray using white vinegar. Allow it to stay on for five minutes, and then use a damp cloth to wipe it off.

Fruit flies. Place cider vinegar into a small bowl. Then use cling wrap to cover up the pole. Poke some holes in the cling wrap. The vinegar will attract the fruit flies and they will become trapped inside.

This is definitely not a comprehensive list but is instead a small sample of all of the different ways you can use vinegar at home. It is effective, green, non-toxic and very affordable. Just think about all of the money you will save and all of the ways that you can use vinegar in your home.
