How to Clean the Interior of Your Oven Door Window

Cleaning the interior of the oven door can be a bit more challenging. After all, the grease that you will be dealing with has literally been baking on the glass for weeks, months, or perhaps even years.

You require:

– Microfiber cloths

– Small-to-medium sized bowl

– Water

– ½ cup baking soda

– Razor blade (optional)

Procedure

Open the oven door and use a damp microfiber cloth to wipe of any loose bits of grime.

Pour the baking soda in the bowl

Add water slowly to the baking soda to make a paste with the consistency of shaving cream.

Spread this paste on the interior of the oven door.

Allow it to sit for between 15 and 20 minutes.

Wipe away the paste using a clean moistened microfiber cloth.

Use the razor blade to gently scrape away any remaining stuck-on gunk. Ensure that you use the flat edge as opposed to the corner to avoid scratching the glass.

Repeat the steps above as needed.

Buff out any streaks in the glass using a dry microfiber cloth.

How to Clean Between the Glass on Your Oven Door

You have cleaned the inside glass and the exterior window is sparkling. But what’s up with the grime that’s stuck in the middle? You will be required to roll up your sleeves and use a few tools for this, but you can clean the inside of that glass.

You require:

– Water

– Microfiber cloths

– ½ cup baking soda

– A clean sheet or towel

– A screwdriver

– Small-to-medium sized bowl

– Your oven’s manual

– A helper

– A razor blade (optional)

Procedure

Open the oven door and examine the screws used for holding it together. The vast majority of ovens use star screws, which means that you might have to rush to your local hardware store to pick up a star screwdriver before getting started.

Lay the towel of the kitchen floor where you plan to be working.

Consult the oven manual to find out how to remove the oven door.

Ask the helper to lend you a hand taking off the oven door. (Be careful since oven doors are much heavier than you might assume. Most importantly, never try to go it alone).

Lay your oven door on the sheet or towel with the inside window facing up.

Remove the screws from the door. You will typically find 2 above the window and perhaps also 2 on the oven door’s base, but this will depend on the model that you have in your home.

Take apart the oven door and lay the sides next to each other. Make sure that the innermost glass of each half of the door is facing upwards.

Follow the instructions provided in the section above titled “How to Clean the Interior of Your Oven Door Window”.

With your helper’s assistance, reassemble and replace your oven door.
