Many people usually change their sheets weekly, but how often are you cleaning your mattress and bed? If you are like most people, you never think about cleaning them. You need to be cleaning them two to four times every year.
This can seem like a daunting task, but it is not as hard as it might seem. Below are some basics that will go a long way in helping you cleaning your bed and mattress.
Before diving into the basics of cleaning and services being offered by Maid Clan, let’s have a look at why it is a good idea to have your mattress cleaned. Try to think of the things you usually find when changing your sheets. You will see a bunch of crumbs and grit on the mattress. People and pets usually shed skin cells, whiskers, hairs, and dander.
These can easily make into the mattress itself. Are you the type of person who snacks in bed? Then you cannot know what is going on with your mattress, and this makes it important to clean it regularly.
Cleaning the Mattress
The process of cleaning a mattress is pretty simple. You will start by stripping the bed and washing the sheets and mattress. This is a good idea because you don’t want to put dirty linens on top of a clean mattress.
You have two options when it comes to cleaning the mattress.
You will fist vacuum using an attachment. Run it across the mattress, ensuring it is getting into crevices and cracks. You should also remember to vacuum along the sides.
The second method of cleaning by steam cleaning. If you don’t have a steam cleaner, you can rent or purchase one. A steam cleaner is the better method because it uses water vapor to clean. You should do a spot test before you start washing the entire mattress with the cleaner.
The last step is flipping the mattress. You should flip it about twice a year unless it is a new mattress. If this is the case, then you need to flip it more often for the first six months after starting to use it. Read the instructions provided by the manufacturers because it can guide you on how to properly rotate your mattress.
Cleaning the Bed
Cleaning the bedframe is not that hard to clean. Unless there are specific instructions from the manufacturer, you can clean it using warm water and a microfiber cloth.
Start by dampening the microfiber cloth with warm water. The next step is wiping down all the surface of the bed. If the bed has carvings or other types of details, use your fingers so the microfiber cloth gets into the crevices. Rinse the microfiber cloth a couple of times because you want to clean the bed and not redistribute the dirt accumulating on the cloth.
