Cleaning up your bedroom was probably a chore that you hated as a child and the chances are probably still high that it is still not one of your favorite activities. However, this is one of the rooms in your home that needs regular cleaning. Yet this doesn’t mean that it is not possible to get these tasks done quickly so you can move onto more interesting things to do.

Here is an effective checklist you can use that will teach you the best way to clean up your bedroom quickly.

Checklist For Cleaning Up Your Bedroom

Set a date. If you have not scheduled time and date to clean up your bedroom, the chances are you will keep putting it off. So if you are interested in learning how to get this task done as quickly as possible, you need to ensure you have saved this date in your diary or a calendar. Otherwise, you may never get around to it.

Make sure you are realistic on how much time you need to set aside to complete this task. Rather leave organizing your closets for another day. Also, avoid intricate tasks such as trying to color-code your clothes in your wardrobe as this is a task that may take you hours to complete, and you will probably not get around to the more important task of actually getting your bedroom clean and tidy.

Start by tidying up. Pick up any shoes or clothes that are lying around and make sure you put them into a wash basket or back in their correct places. The next step involves clearing your nightstands and dressers. Put any magazines or books that you are no longer reading back onto the shelf where they belong. Any items that stay permanently on your tabletops or dressers like a jewelry box or family photographs can be moved to a corner of your room. Cover these with a towel.

Cleaning up. Use a dust mop to wipe around the corners of the bedroom and around the areas where the walls meet the ceiling. Your aim should be to remove accumulated dust and get rid of any cobwebs.

Wipe down all the surfaces in your bedroom. It is better to dry-dust all your furniture in the bedroom using a clean microfiber cloth. Wipe the surfaces until the dust is all gone. If you would like to polish the furniture you can also conduct this task using a microfiber cloth. Slightly dampen the cloth before you begin. Once you have completed cleaning and polishing all the surfaces in the room, use another clean microfiber cloth to wipe the items that you stored in the corner before you put them back into place.

Now strip down the bed and load the pillowcases, duvet covers and sheets into your washing machine. Now you can vacuum your bedroom to pick up all the dust and debris that has made its way onto the floors or carpets.

Put clean bedding on your bed. Now that all the dust is gone you can replace your bedding linen with freshly washed pillowcases and sheets.
